April 2010 will mark a milestone in the history and evolution of the Construction Career Days initiative. The Eighth Annual Central Florida Construction Career Days-Orlando will be held at the Central Florida Fairgrounds.
The event that began as a partnership between the Federal Highway Administration, the Florida Department of Transportation, the Florida Transportation Builders Association, and the Mid-Florida Utilities& Transportation Contractors Association to reach out to high school seniors that were undecided as to a career path, has grown to include comprehensive multi-day events in Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale.
Our partners have also grown to include local and national utility associations, local school districts, and the National Association of Women in Construction.
Our target audience is high school students who might consider any one of the more than 40,000 career opportunities available in the construction industry. Approximately 1,200 students are given the opportunity to learn about careers, including the operation of heavy equipment, directly from the experts themselves in small group sessions, allowing for hands-on learning at each of the three events throughout the state.

Students interested in attending must register through their school tech-prep coordinator or guidance counselor.
